How to Manage Stress and Improve Your Wellbeing

Life is often stressful, and you may find your days are a constant whirlwind of places to go and people to see. Leading a full and busy life can be great, and having plenty of friends to spend time with and social occasions to attend can make life a lot of fun. If your schedule is packed with things you love to do, this is a positive thing. However, it is also crucial to remember to make time for chilling out and relaxing. When your life is permanently busy, you may find that exhaustion slowly creeps up on you. You may start to notice that you are picking up more coughs and colds than usual and starting to feel generally unwell. No one wants to be ill, and when you feel under the weather, this can ruin your plans and prevent you from enjoying life to the full. No matter how busy life gets, it is still crucial to make time for yourself and enjoy some downtime to help you destress. Here’s a little inspiration to help you find your inner calm amid the busyness of everyday life:

Try Yoga

Thanks to its benefits for both the body and mind, yoga can be a powerful way to reduce your stress levels and any tension you are holding in the body. Practicing yoga is something that you can do at home, making it the ideal activity for chill-out days. Yoga can make a significant difference in people’s lives when practiced regularly and help keep your stress levels low.

Do Nothing!

Setting aside a day every once in a while where you make no plans is an excellent way just to sit back, relax, and do whatever you want. Watch TV, listen to music, read a book, do whatever you like and give yourself permission to do it for no other reason than simply because you feel like it! Pull on some super comfortable clothes, search your closet and choose sweatshirt graphics that appeal to your current mood and give a relaxed vibe, and then you are good to go.

Get Creative

If you are someone that cannot sit down and do nothing, why not use your chill-out time to get creative? Being creative can have a calming effect on the mind, especially if you enter a state of flow. When your mind enters a state of flow, you are entirely absorbed by your task and ‘in the zone.’ This enables you to forget about the outside world and let your creativity flow without interruption.

Do What Works for You

Just as everyone responds to stress in different ways, everyone also has different ways to chill out. There is no perfect way to relax; you simply need to find a method that works best for you. Enjoying your downtime and recharging your batteries is essential and the perfect way to balance living a busy life without compromising your wellness.

Quick & Easy Ways To Pamper Yourself

We all know that pampering can work wonders for the way that we look. But going to the salon every five minutes gets expensive. Fortunately, there are a bunch of ways that you can pamper yourself in little ways that will make a big difference.

Take A Hot Shower And Then Make It Cold

Leisure centers and salons will charge you a lot of money for a sauna followed by an ice bath. But did you know that you can get the same effect pretty much in the shower?

Start by turning the shower up to as hot as is comfortable. (Don’t let it get so hot that it scolds you). Then allow the steam to work its way around the shower cubicle until you feel nice and warm. Then, turn the shower to cold and mimic the experience of jumping into an ice bath. Yes – it will feel awful. But at least you’ll be getting that awful feeling for free instead of having to pay for it.

Buy Yourself A Bouquet

Flowers are a wonderful way to lift the mood and make your home feel more complete. They help to bring nature indoors and naturally elevate your mood. Plus, you don’t have to spend a lot of money. You can get tremendous mood-enhancing effects from bouquets costing as little as $20. Now that’s not bad!

Learn How To Give Yourself A Facial

Did you know that when you go to the salon, the majority of the fee that you pay goes towards building rent and employee wages? Well, it’s true. That means that you can get many of the benefits of going to a professional spa by applying the same ingredients and methods.

Learning how to do an at home facial massage, for instance, could save you a small fortune. And, if you’re feeling confident, you could experiment with light peels using ferulic acid.

Get Some Chamomile Tea

The wonderful thing about chamomile tea is that it fundamentally changes how you feel. Chamomile has a relaxant in it that causes you to gradually calm down and unwind for bed. It’s just a natural herbal remedy, but it can have a tremendous effect on your overall feelings of calmness and equanimity.

Eat A Candlelit Dinner

Another thing you can try is eating a candlelit dinner – even if you’re by yourself. The presence of the candlelight will help to set the mood and automatically help you relieve some of the tension in your body.

If you have the budget for it, you might want to try getting some candles with blended essential oils. These have a calming, soothing effect on the body that can help you unwind and reset your mind after a long week at work.

Make a Foot Soak

Your feet are home to a high concentration of nerve endings. So pampering and soothing them can be a great way to make your entire body feel more relaxed. Plus, it makes your feet feel so much softer at the same time.

Add Bubble Bath

A regular bath with soap and water can make you feel relaxed. But there’s nothing more decadent than adding bubbles. It just automatically has a luxe feel about it. What’s more, bubble baths are inexpensive. So adding it won’t break the bank either. Plus, soaking in a tub full of bubbles is also a lot of fun. You could make yourself a bubble crown, for instance, and pretend that you’re the Queen of England.

Give Yourself A Pedicure

Lastly, you may want to experiment with giving yourself a pedicure. You can often buy at-home foot spas, for instance, for as little as $20. These come with all of the equipment that you need to give you that genuine nail salon feel.

If you’re looking for a quick fix and don’t have time for a full pedi, then press-on nails are always an option. Again, these can make you feel like you’ve pampered yourself without having to pay professional prices.

Guide For Taking A Me Day

The reality of the era that we are in is that we live in a challenging world. But, unfortunately, with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, there is not much time to press pause and focus on what is happening around you and, most importantly, with you. So, do yourself a favor and ask yourself, when was the last time you thought about how you are doing? How have you been feeling lately? Are you really okay, or are you just rushing through every day and trying to keep your head above water?

Every man or woman needs to take a ‘me day’ at least once every two months. It would be best for your mental health and overall well-being if you took some time to self-reflect, do some stock taking on what you have accomplished thus far and where you are headed. You need to take a day (a full day) and be with and only you. No distractions. You can see your family and friends tomorrow. Today is all about you.

Now, taking a ‘me day’ does not necessarily mean you have to pack up and go far away. If you are one of the lucky few who can, by all means, do it!

However, if not, here is a small guide as to how you can spend your ‘me day’. Please bear in mind; the following is not set in stone. You can chop and change how you want to spend your day; these are just a few ideas.

Sleep later but not too late

Yes, not too late. Otherwise, you wake up at 12 pm, and then your whole day is over. So no, snooze an hour or so later than usual, then get up and make yourself some coffee or tea- whichever one you prefer. Go outside or a window, open it and listen. Don’t think, listen. Take a breath, slow and deep and for those few moments, just let go of your worries.

After that, take a nice hot shower or bath. Use the most expensive and luxurious bubble bath, soap, shower gel, and oils! Finally, treat your skin to some well-deserved pampering.

Treat Yourself to a little Razzle Dazzle

Yes, go on and treat yourself to some fine jewelry, a day at the spa, take yourself to the beach or the park, maybe go and see that movie that you wanted to see, take yourself out for breakfast or go to an animal shelter and spend some time with the pups or kittens!

It doesn’t matter what you decide to do, as long as it is something that you want to do! Show yourself how much you appreciate yourself and who you are, and all of the accomplishments that you have achieved.

Relax

After a successful and joyous day, when you get home, do not turn on the TV just yet and don’t listen to any music with lyrics. You are welcome to play some classical music with instruments only, but that is it.

The reason? The lyrics of music have a powerful impact on your mood and thoughts; that impact is not always positive. So be careful what you listen to when you are meant to focus on yourself, your mental health, and your well-being.

Always remember, people, come and go. But you will never leave you. So take care of yourself.

Here Is What You Need to Know About Sunscreen

If you want to protect your skin, sunscreen is important. Although skin cancer is the most common type of cancer globally, there are some people who don’t use sunscreen when they venture out into the sun. However, there are people who are interested in protecting them but aren’t sure what they should do or when to apply it.

Here are some quick pointers you need to know applying sunscreen:

  • You should apply it every 2 hours, or after swimming.
  • It takes 15 minutes for sunscreen to become absorbed into your skin.
  • You should apply it on cloudy days too.
  • You should ensure the protection (SPF) is right for your skin.

These are just a few things you need to remember when applying your sunscreen. However, there are a few other things that you probably didn’t know about sun protection. Fortunately, you can search online to find out more, but for now. Here is what you need to know about sunscreen.

Why is sunscreen important?

Sunscreen helps to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun. It absorbs into your skin, giving you the protection you need, so you don’t get an increased chance of getting skin cancer. In addition, it helps to protect you from both types of skin cancer, melanoma and non-melanoma.

It’s part of your daily skincare routine.

Skincare should be a daily part of your routine. If you’re interested in taking part in a skincare routine, it’s recommended that you follow the three-step routine, which involves cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen. A cleanse helps to keep your skin clean and prevents spots and whiteheads from developing. Moisturizing helps your skin to stay hydrated and softens the skin. Finally, sunscreen helps to protect your skin from the sun. While others may have a different routine with various products, most come down to these three steps.

You should pay attention to the label.

Although there are various options when it comes to sunscreen, it’s still important for you to know what your sunscreen is. Some sunscreens have toxic ingredients; however, that isn’t to say that all sunscreens house these items, which can cause you any harm. Reading the label is a great way to understand what you’re using and how it can affect you. There are even many blogs out there that help explain which are bad sunscreen ingredients and how to avoid them, giving you the information needed to make the right choice and protect yourself and your family.

These are only a few items that you need to know before using sunscreen. It also helps to do your own research to find the best sunscreen for you, as there is a wealth of information that can help you protect yourself and your family. If you find that you want to learn more or have questions about your skin, you can also get in touch with a dermatologist near you who may be able to answer your questions and give you helpful advice to keep your skin soft and healthy.

Finding New Ways To Treat Yourself

When it comes to treating people right, people often overlook the person who matters the most. Treating yourself is something that everyone should take a moment to get used to, as it’s actually a very important part of being happy. While having a good situation in life is also an important part of that, you can’t be truly happy until you learn to love yourself. In fact, loving yourself is important when it comes to many scenarios in life, so you should start looking into that! Treating yourself isn’t going to solve all of your problems, but it will at least bring you that step closer to happiness.

Go on vacation

One of the best ways to treat yourself from time to time is to go on vacation. That doesn’t mean you have to travel across the world, but having some time to yourself doing what you want to do can make the world of difference. It might not sound that incredible, but it will help you get in touch with your sense of self again, and you don’t have to deal with your everyday concerns. Not only that, but if you do get out there and partake in new experiences, it can improve your worldview even if just a little!

Enjoy things for your own sake

A lot of the time, leisure activities are done with friends and family, and not often enough are they done for your own sake. You don’t need other people to have fun, and you don’t need anyone else to enjoy the things you enjoy. If you know how to enjoy the things that you want without the help or company of others, you’ll never be bored. You can be your own best friend, and you can be your own best company – which is one of the best benefits you can gain from learning to love yourself.

Eat at a restaurant

Making your own food is great, but it still comes with the time and effort that you have to spend on preparation, and you’re limited to your own experience. When you eat out at a nice place, you don’t have to worry about that anymore. Sure, it will cost you a bit, but that’s part of treating yourself! No matter the occasion, you can take yourself and some friends if you like to a place like Famous Daves Restaurant and treat yourself to a meal cooked by a professional. It’s your turn to relax and put your feet up, and that experience itself is worth the money you spend.

Make a wishlist

Thinking of something that you would want on the spot might be too much to ask, especially if you’re buying it for the purpose of improving your mood. It can help to make a wishlist so that you can add anything that you feel you might want to buy at some point. When the time comes to buy yourself something, you can refer to that list! Oftentimes you won’t want everything on that list anymore, which is why it’s important to write it down before buying it. It helps you to treat yourself and avoid impulse buying at the same time.
