Miu Miu Fragrance Launch Party

Miu Miu celebrated their newest fragrance, L’Eau Rosée, with a fun & fabulous launch party in NYC. It was the perfect way to end NYFW this season and get ready for Spring. L’Eau Rosée is for every girl who just wants to have fun and gets a rush from making decisions based on whimsy alone. If this sounds a lot like you, read on.

The Scent

The fragrance is soft and floral, but not overly sweet. I hate perfumes that make me smell like candy or body sprays I used when I was a teenager. The floral notes are lily of the valley and cassis buds that are complimented with a sophisticated musk. It’s a great scent to transition into Spring / Summer with.

The Miu Miu Girl’s Dream Apartment

The event was at The Apartment by The Line in Soho, NY. This world of Miu Miu was filled with bubbly, mani time, and kittens. Avocado toast and meringues were passed around the dream space that was decorated with the newest Spring/Summer collection. There were also cute lapel pins and cookies shaped in the L’Eau Rosée bottle. Don’t you wish you could live in an apartment like this every day? Click here for more on my look.

Maui Helicopter Ride

Maui Views Above

Went to Maui, Hawaii for a few days, and a few friends recommended that a helicopter ride was a MUST! So my boyfriend and I did it. Since we didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time on the island, it was a great way to get a gist of what the island is all about. The pilot gave us some info on the history and nature of the island. It’s so sad, but Maui is stopping production on their sugar cane farms and using the land for something else. I hope the history of Hawaii doesn’t get lost.

I was really inspired by the color palette of the land and wanted to share pictures of the landscape. It’s truly beautiful and vast with everything from rain and sunshine in one place, reefs with beautiful tropical fish in the ocean, windmills, large waterfalls and streams, windmills, and forests with eucalyptus trees.

The Helicopter Route

We went through Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours and took the Eco-Star tour of Hana/Haleakala. It was about 50 minutes in the air, where we flew past the Haleakala Crater, Oheo Gulch/ Seven Pools, Hana Town, Hana Rainforest, and the Northeast Maui shoreline. I felt like we visited 5 different climates and landscapes in one trip, while flying through some rain clouds and finding rainbows.

Date Day: Couple’s Spa

Any long lasting relationship takes work. Almost every time I ask married couples what the secret is to a healthy, long-lasting relationship they say that it takes work. Quality time is extremely important, but how do millennials find time in today’s busy world? There is so much going on that trying to balance work, love, and friends can seem impossible at times.

Some opt to skip the love part, but I’d say there are more pros than cons to being in a relationship. Sure, taking a week of to go on a vacation would be a great way to getaway and spend time together. But if you can’t do that just right now because of a time constraint, budget, or any other factors, here is something that you can do in one day. It’s a couple’s day at the spa. I did it with my boyfriend, and we got to relax and have fun together.

Couples Spa Day

Doing a couple’s spa day is the perfect way to be romantic with your partner and relax at the same time. Relieve yourself from work stress or anything else preventing you from being your 100%. Both my boyfriend and I were pretty busy during the summer and I felt like we needed more time together. We decided to try The Couple’s Spa on the Upper East Side of New York.

We usually do spa days together at hotels like the Wynn or Encore in Vegas, but what drew me into picking this place was the flower bath. After getting the massage together, you get a full body sea salt scrub, and then soak in a warm bath with rose and lemon aromas for pure relaxation.

The Treatment

When we first walked into The Couple’s Spa, the first thing I noticed was pink. And lot’s of it. If you do check this place out, don’t let the decor fool you. Everything was so worth it. We checked in and went downstairs where two massage tables were set side by side with rose petals placed along the border and towels in the shape of hearts. How cute!

The massage treatment was a 90 minute deep tissue full body massage. After the massage we got a full body salt scrub. Salt scrubs are so beneficial to your body especially after a massage. They can reduce inflammation, improve blood circulation, tighten skin, and reduce the look of aging skin and cellulite.

Then we went to another room with a really cute wooden bathtub filled with rose petals and lemons. We soaked in the bath while we were offered chocolate, fresh fruit, and wine. Lemons have healing agents that refresh and revive tired skin while rose oil helps moisturize skin.

In addition to the massage, we got custom facials which topped off the full day of pampering. We walked out of the spa feeling so relaxed. I would definitely recommend a spa date next time you think about planning another typical dinner date. And if you’re currently single, do it with a friend! I might go next time with my sisters.

Where to Find A Good Spa

Do You Need an Oxygen Facial?

oxygen facial zinas skin care

Ok, so my sister is getting married at the end of September. I want to make sure I am in tip top shape for the wedding since I am a bridesmaid. I’ve been on the go as of late and haven’t had the best diet or sleep. I spent a week in Atlanta modeling for a brand Zoey Grey during market week. My days were long and I was always meeting up with friends after work. Without much time to go to a grocery store to get healthy food, I ended up eating out a lot and trying fried catfish and grits. Hey, I was in ATL so don’t judge me. I needed to try the Atlanta classics!

Travel Affects on Sensitive Skin

After, I flew to New York for a few days and went home to Philadelphia for my sister’s bridal shower. With all the traveling and planning for my sister’s bridal shower and bachelorette, my skin was bound to break out. The air in New York is a lot dirtier than Los Angeles, and your skin can dry out a lot if you are flying frequently. So I decided to go to esthetician Zina for a special oxygen facial.

Zinas NYC

Zina is a very special woman who really knows her stuff. She had been practicing skin care in Russia for years before coming to New York. She was like my Russian Grandmother from another life. I loved how honest she was about how I had been treating my skin poorly and told me exactly what I needed to do to fix it.

She also makes her own skin products at home using all natural ingredients. Although it’s a secret as to what her amazing products are made from, I know milk was one ingredient and can verify they are legit.

Wash and Exfoliate Properly

Apparently I was being really aggressive with my skin. The soap I was using felt slippery and I thought it wasn’t cleaning my face enough and would do two washes. In retrospect I was rubbing off the epidermis of my skin, and it was giving my face an ashy look that kept flaking off. Super gross. Zina told me I needed just a bit of soap and to gently rub my face in small circular motions. Use less water too because that can aggrevate skin. She was a big advocate of using cotton to wash and polish the skin.

For exfoliator, my super sensitive skin needs something called gommage. gomm-what? It’s French for “to erase” and means to gently exfoliate your face in the dermatology world. But you’re not actually using beads or scrubbers to scrape away at dead skin cells. Instead you put the product on your face and let it sit for a few. Enzymes work to digest skin cells that will be rinsed off with the product.

The Oxygen Facial

After looking over the status of my skin quality, Zina set me up with an oxygen facial. I was thinking I would need a Guinot Hydradermie facial (which she does and are hard to find since it’s a European treatment. I had this done once in London) or microdermabrasion, but the oxygen facial would bring my skin back to life.

What is an oxygen facial? It starts with a serum that has hyaluronic acid and other antioxidants, all good for moisturizing and regenerating your skin cells, collagen, and elasticity. A wand is then gently touched over the serum on your face to infuse oxygen and help your skin absorb everything. The sound may be a little alarming at first, like a mosquito in a bug lamp, but I promise it doesn’t hurt. Oxygen is good for the skin because it kills acne-causing bacteria, closes large pores, and has a calming effect.

Zina washed my face and did minimal extractions pre-treatment. After the oxygen treatment, she put on a cooling mask and gave me a back and arm massage. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep and felt renewed after.

Do it Again?

I would definitely love to get another oxygen facial before the wedding to get my skin glowing and looking fresh. Zina also sent me home with two plastic tins of her homemade product which I put on every night before bed. It helped with the calming of my breakouts and brought things back to normal, balanced and clear. If you’re looking to freshen dull skin and get a glowing complexion, I would definitely recommend this non-invasive treatment!
